| Can someone enlighten me on why these coins are being sought out? | | Recently I have been doing some online selling and on one site, I have come across an advertisement for Rizal Head coins dating 1971. Now for the new generation who may be unfamiliar with what I am referring to, these are the coins that circulated from 1968 to 1975 during the time of Marcos and they are big, heavy one Peso coins. It shows Jose Rizal and the Bagong Lipunan seal on the obverse. Now my curiosity has been ignited because there are a lot of advertisement just for a particular year, which is 1971. I have tried unsuccessfully to find out the value of these coins and why so many people are looking for the coins. I have a can full of these old coins, sitting untouched for more than fifteen years. It is a memento from my childhood years where I would not spend my allowance, which was that one Peso coin, and instead deposit it in my coin bank. Now can someone enlighten me why these coins are being sought out? | |
| | Who loses coins? | | Who do you think loses the coins that are found in parking lots or in stores near the checkout counters? I think that it is mostly men who lose a coin, or more than one, in a parking lot when they are taking the car keys out of their pocket. Inside at checkout counters, cashiers, it probably becomes a little more even between men and women when they are paying or putting change away. Of course in the store coins are not lost often anymore because most people pay by credit or debit card. What do you think about who loses coins?ese coins are being sought out? | |

| | Do you keep or save your coins? | | Do you stash your coins in a piggy bank (or something like that)? Do you still keep even the coins with low values and see if you can make a big amount of savings with them?Well, my cousin used to save coins (even those which had a super low VALUE already in the market), and when she counted her coin savings, it really amounted to something BIG. So from then on, I keep every coin I see, no matter how small its value is.It's really surprising how several coins with low values can amount to something so big.So, do you also save coins?ese coins are being sought out? | |

| | one cent counted... The coins are precious! | | Everyday I will keep and collect my coins. When I buy something at the store, and the cashier ask me " Do you have 20 cents coins? " I will just say.. " No, I don't "... It is because I want to keep the coins. For me the best method for me to save is by collecting the coins. I am a student, and a month I can save up until $40 only. However, it is better than nothing. Saving by collecting the coins really takes time, but it is worthy. If you save by cash notes, you will feel to use it when you out of money. If you keep the coins, you will not feel to use it because it is heavy when you want to bring it to the store. This is my method of saving. How about you? Do you have any? | |

| | What do you do with foreign coins that end up in your wallet? | | Sometimes I will pull out some change to pay for something - and the cashier will give me a back a coin saying "That's not a nickel" or "dime" or whatever. I think it's Canadian coins that mostly end up with my change (I am in the US). I have a small pile that's building up - not sure what to do with it. I think I might even have a couple tokens in there too that I'm not sure where they're from. What do you do with these foreign coins that sneak into your change pocket? Do you try to pass them on to a store thinking maybe the cashier might not notice . . . or do you honestly give it to them by mistake (they look so similar!)? ese coins are being sought out? | |
